A lot of the people I follow on Tumblr have been sending out some seriously positive vibes and they’ve inspired me to look onto the bright side and evaluate the simple pleasures I love in life. Here are a handful:
1. The feeling of flower petals beneath your fingertips. I love flowers not only for their beauty but also their fragility despite the harshness nature can conjure. They can endure inhospitable winters to vibrantly blossom in spring. They’re delicate and strong simultaneously.
2. Taking late night summer drives with the windows rolled down and the music turned up. There’s something so gorgeous about city lights twinkling in the darkness of night. Everything is a bit more mysterious and soft. The music seems to take on a new life as well, caressing your ears differently in the warm summer air.
3. Reading the final sentence of a good book. Not only are closing sentences important to the book in a literary aspect, but they’re also special to me as a reader. It may sound silly, but looking back at how many pages I’ve read and knowing how far I’ve come is particularly gratifying, especially when I enjoyed the process. There’s nothing better than the mixture of pain and pleasure that comes with finishing an enchanting novel; pain in knowing that the story is over but the pleasure of having read it all.
